Edmundo Novillo Aguilar has been appointed as the new Bolivian Defense Minister. Novillo, 57, is a lawyer and a member of the ruling party, Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS). Throughout his political career he has held various popularly elected positions, including governor of the Department of Cochabamba and president of the Chamber of Deputies.
